Adira.

Christine DiGiosia

Adira is an Indigenous teenage girl who has a hunger to explore new life experiences and expand her world. While being a bit shy and socially awkward, she feels she is very average and doesn’t fit the “mold” of what she thinks popular and pretty girls are. Adira soon discovers the world of online gaming and streaming and her natural talent in that realm. With her best friend, Jamal, by her side as well as the loving support of her mother, Mitzi, Adira learns to take risks and explore what new adventures are yet to come.

As Adira’s best friend, Jamal is kind and thoughtful with a bit of a nerdy side. He is easy to talk to and well-liked by all. He volunteers in his community and is actively involved with the Africville Society, including the Africville Reunion, which takes place every July in Halifax. As someone who is very comfortable in his small town and has no ambitions to step outside of the box, this is one place where he and Adira disagree. As their relationship evolves, boundaries get pushed, and tough personal lessons get learned.
